About Us

Saving Strays Animal Rescue is a local animal charity based in Bolton. We care for and re-home unwanted cats, dogs, horses, rabbits and would never allow a healthy animal to be put down.

Many of our animals have not had the best start in life and are in need of support from their new families. To ensure they get this it is our policy to carry out home checks on all potential new homes prior to adoption. In this way we hope to provide the most suitable homes for our animals and give them the best possible chance of finding their new forever families.

Saving Strays Animal Rescue is staffed by a small team of volunteers, without whom we could not operate. If you would like to get involved with Saving Strays Animal Rescue and our work, why not make a donation, volunteer or foster. Any help you can offer will always be greatly appreciated by all of us here at Saving Strays Animal Rescue and of course by all of the animals in our care!

What we do?

We ensure that every animal is neutered, vaccinated, has flea and worm treatment, and is microchipped, along with any other medical needs that animal has.

All vet history is recorded at our chosen vets and will be passed onto the new owner upon adoption.

How do we do it?

We have a set adoption fee for cats and dogs that covers not only that animal’s care but goes towards the care of all our animals in rescue.

When you adopt from Saving Strays Animal Rescue we provide you with an Adoption Contract and all the vet history needed for your new pet.

Partner & friends

We are a part of the Home Checkers Network which now allows us to rehome all over the UK.

For every adoption there will be a thorough home check arranged to ensure that you and your new family member are right for each other!

Working with Vet Medics Manchester – Giving Rescue Animals the Care They Deserve

At Saving Strays Animal Rescue, we know that rescuing an animal is only the beginning of their journey.

Many of the cats, dogs and horses that come into our care have experienced neglect, abandonment or simply unfortunate circumstances that have left them needing veterinary treatment before they can begin their new lives.

That’s why building strong relationships with veterinary professionals is so important to us.

We are incredibly proud to work alongside Vet Medics in Manchester, whose dedication to animal welfare has helped us provide exceptional care for many of the animals that come through our rescue.

Rescue Animals Often Need Specialist Care

Unlike routine veterinary appointments, rescue work can present unique and often complex medical cases. Animals may arrive requiring emergency treatment, extensive dental work, diagnostic investigations, surgery or ongoing medical management.

Some of the animals we rescue have gone without veterinary care for significant periods of time, while others have chronic conditions that require specialist input before they are ready to be adopted.

Having a veterinary team that understands the realities of rescue work allows us to make the best possible decisions for every animal in our care.

A Partnership Built on Compassion

The team at Vet Medics shares our passion for putting animal welfare first. Their expertise, kindness and willingness to support rescue animals have made a genuine difference to the lives of the animals we help.

Veterinary partnerships are about far more than treating illnesses and injuries. They are about giving vulnerable animals the opportunity to recover, thrive and find loving forever homes.

Every successful adoption story begins with ensuring an animal is healthy, comfortable and given the time and treatment they need to flourish.

Why Veterinary Partnerships Matter

Animal rescue is very much a team effort. Behind every animal that finds their forever home is a network of dedicated people working together, including volunteers, foster carers, adopters and veterinary professionals.

Veterinary practices play a vital role by providing:

🐱 Comprehensive health assessments.

🐱 Emergency and routine veterinary treatment.

🐱 Diagnostic investigations and imaging.

🐱 Surgical procedures and dental treatments.

🐱 Advice on rehabilitation and long-term care.

🐱 Ongoing support for animals with additional medical needs.

Without these partnerships, many rescue organisations would struggle to provide the level of care that

vulnerable animals deserve.

Thank You, Vet Medics

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team at Vet Medics Manchester for their continued support and commitment to animal welfare.

Their professionalism, compassion and expertise help us give rescue animals the very best chance at a happy and healthy future. Together, we are ensuring that every animal that comes through our doors receives the care, treatment and love they need before finding their forever home.

At Saving Strays Animal Rescue, we believe that every animal deserves a second chance. Thanks to veterinary partnerships like ours with Vet Medics, we are able to turn that belief into reality every single day.

Because rescue doesn’t end when an animal is saved – it’s only just the beginning.
